Josiane Imhasly (*1986) is a freelance curator and cultural producer. In 2014, she initiated the exhibition project Zur frohen Aussicht in the Upper Valais mountain village of Ernen, which will take place for the fifth time in summer 2025. She lectures at the F+F School of Art and Design, Zurich, writes essays for artists and institutions and is regularly invited as an expert in juries. She’s part of the art purchasing commission of the Canton of Zug since 2025. In 2024, she co-curated the Biennial Art Safiental and was responsible for the programme of the offspace Lemme in Sion from 2022 to 2023. She was a fellow and curator at the Gebert Foundation for Culture / Alte Fabrik in Rapperswil (2017–2020). From 2020 to 2022, Josiane Imhasly worked for the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia in the field of cultural promotion and was responsible for the publication series Collection Cahiers d’Artistes, which enables artists to publish their first monographic publication. She studied social and communication sciences, cultural studies and cultural management at the Universities of Lucerne and Basel and the Freie Universität Berlin. She is interested in sociatal issues within the field of art, especially questions of liminality and transformation, seeks exchange with other disciplines and advocates for art in rural and public spaces (e.g. as a mandated project manager, Art and Building Department / Fachstelle Kunst und Bau, City of Zurich). She lives and works in Switzerland (mostly in Zurich, in winter in Samedan and likes to spend time in Ernen, where her family roots are).
