In the installation Umgehen von Tatsachen (Bypassing Facts), Herbert Weber uses Lemme to generate images and transforms the sculpture into a permeable, translucent shell. The image-sculptures which are set in the space become invisible from a certain point of view. He achieves this with his repeatedly tested method, which triggers an optical illusion in the viewer. At the same time, he reveals how the illusion is crafted.
Herbert Weber (*1975 Frauenfeld, lives and works in St. Gallen, Switzerland) works primarily in the medium of photography. He often works site-specific and stages the found spaces. With superimpositions and layering as well as the doubling and tripling of images, he creates situations of confusion that encourage one to look more closely. The self-portrayal as a photographer plays an important role in his work. With a lot of humor he questions the role of the artist and the context of exhibiting.
